El equipo alemán empieza atacando, teniendo varias ocasiones e incluso un gol anulado en los primeros 15 minutos. A partir de ahí, tablas, hasta el final de la 1ª parte, en donde hay penalty clarísimo por empujón a favor del Girondins con una falta previa en ataque, que transforma en gol Ferreri. 0-1 al descanso. En la 2ª parte,tras la expulsión de Plancque, el Burdeos pierde tiempo descaradamente, hecho que hace que el árbitro descuente hasta 4 minutos, inusual para la época. Partido muy malo que acaba en 0-1. En el Burdeos juegan Kieft y Vervoort. Sorprende ver en el Girondins a 2 futuros campeones del mundo: Lizarazu y un joven Dugarry con 18 años.
